Quiz Contest organized by the Wildlife Wing:
Wildlife Quiz Contest 2012 for Awareness Generation on Wildlife & Bio-diversity among the school children, organized by the Wildlife Wing, Directorate of Forests, Government of West Bengal, started from 4th August 2012. 22 schools (comprising of 44 teams) were invited. Finally, 4 schools comprising of 6 teams (Delhi Public School, Rubi Park-2 teams; Ballygunge Shiksha Sadan -2 teams; Mahadevi Birla Sishu Vihar; Scottish Church Collegiate School) entered the Final which was held on 8th September 2012. Ballygunge Shiksha Sadan was the winner in the said contest.

Award Ceremony for Wildlife Quiz finalists:
Wildlife Wing in association with Kids for Tiger and SHER organized a function on 10.10.2012 at Paribesh Bhavan. In the function the Hon’ble MIC, Forests awarded the students who contested in the final of Wildlife Quiz 2012. Besides the awardees students of different schools were also present in the award ceremony. A film on tiger conservation titled ‘The Truth about Tigers’ was shown among the students.

Wildlife Day, 2012:
The Wildlife Day 2012 was celebrated throughout the State of West Bengal on 26.11.2012 to generate awareness among common people on Wildlife & Biodiversity Conservation. Many programs were undertaken in the districts. In Kolkata programs, special attention was given to the school students as they are the future of our society. The programs in Kolkata included
i. Debate Competition among School Students,
ii. Film Show on Wildlife Conservation,
iii. Bird watching at Santragachi Jheel for school students,
iv. Kolkata Alipore Zoo visit for school students and
v. Street Play on Wildlife Conservation awareness at places like South City Mall, Mani Square Mall and City Centre-I. Among other programms in the districts, certificates and mementos were given to persons who had shown exemplary courage and temperament for Wildlife Protection and Conservation.
